Can you say "Best Christmas Ever?"
I have to admit that this year I had the best Christmas of my life! There are so many reasons that I could tell you for why it was the best, but they all come back to one thing: Somer.
This year I had the pleasure of spending my Christmas with the love of my life. She came over on the 22nd, slept over for her Birthday on the 23rd, stayed with me for Christmas Eve, and got forver spoiled when Santa's sled tipped over on Chritmas morning!
My most amazing weekend started with the night before her Birthday. We had spent the whole day together after work, so I never had the chance to go and buy her a cake, so I had to turn to my parents for some help. I asked my dad to give me a reason to leave (keep in mind this is about 10:30/11:00 at night) but that I also needed them to keep Somer home. About 30 minutes later they had come up with some cocked-eyed scheme that I had to go and put some gas in their truck, and they needed to talked to Somer alone... HA!
Well the plan worked perfectly, I was able to run to the store and pick up a Carrot Cake (Somer's favorite,) some beautiful Lillies and Roses, and a cute B-day card. Now all I had to do was hide it and find someway to get up in the middle of the night and set it all up to suprise her in the morning =)
All I could think of was to go to the bathroom, she knows that I can tend to take a little while in there so it went off without a hitch. I set up the flowers and the cake, wrote a sweet note on the card, and hurried and wrapped the promise ring I had bought her. I was so excited for her to wake up and see the surprise I had waiting!
When I got back in bed she had either been waiting for me or just sleeping very lightly because she immediatly asked me if I had just taken the worlds largest crap because I had been gone for so long! To Make a long story a little bit shorter, we got up in the morning and after numerous attempts to get her upstairs, offering to make her breakfast, asking if she needed to go anywhere, and a couple other tries, I finaly just said, "lets just go upstairs!" We went upstairs and she saw her surprise and my whole day was made when she said, "WOW!"
We spent the rest of the day by seeing "The Pursuit of Happiness," shopping a bit, trying to go to her parents (who tend to always change their plans 10 minutes before we arrive,) and finaly by going out to eat at her favorite resaurant where I had some of her best friends waiting to surprise her. After eating Somer and I went to the Westerner and did some line dancing. The whole day was a blast, and it was super fun to give her such a great Birthday!
The next day of fun was Christmas Eve. This day was pretty relaxed. We tried again to see Somer's parents but they just wouldn't have it, so we decided to just see them on Christmas. We actually worked in the morning until about 2:30, and after went to the store to pick up a few different things for a Christmas Eve party that we were throwing at my parents house. However, time was running out before Christmas morning and I still had to wrap all of Somer's Presents so I could surpise her with a visit from Santa! =)
Luckily when we arrived at my parent's house my dad was just leaving to pick up my older brother, and Somer was more than willing to keep him company on the drive, which gave me about 45 minutes to get wrapping. I was able to get it all wrapped but had to hid the everything in the basement until later, when I distracted Somer and my little brother, Ryan, helped me move the treasure upstairs.
It was a great party, we just sat around eating, talking, openning a few presents, and then later we played this really fun card game called "apples to apples." It was pretty funny and we all seemed to enjoy it.
In my household we have always had Santa visit... That is just what happens on Christmas! Sure all the children in the house are 18 and older, and we all know who Santa really is, but that doesnt mean that you have to spoil the fun! I was really excited to have Somer over for Christmas because from what I gathered from her stories of previous holidays, she hadn't EVER had a Christmas like what I was about to give her. :)
It was so funny to have her wake up at 7 and want to go open presents. I had to tell her to wait however, because we had to wait until everyone was up to see what Santa had brought! She was really excited so I called Ryan and told him to wake up the parents. It didn't work and they wanted another 30minutes, so Somer and I just laid there and talked until Ryan called back and said it was time. At this points Somer tried to cheat and run up the stairs but I caught her and ended up pinning her on the stairs for about 10 minutes while everyone was getting dressed! It was pretty funny because she had no idea what to expect, but it was just there above the last stair BARELY out of site! =)
As soon as everyone was ready I let her go and she dashed up the stairs to find three piles of presents, each with a stocking proped up next to them to indicate the owner.
Somer was blown away! I just sat their watching the excitement and happiness on her face as she openned each gift. She got so much, and even though she was expecting some of it I was able to really surprise. Things like a box of her favorite cereal, a slinky, and the most surprising of all was a jewelry box and a diamond circle necklace really made light up!
Now all that I've noted above it what made this the best christmas ever! BUT I even got some presents, which made it even better! Somer got me a Gameboy DS, a ton of movies, some killer shirts, a game to play (with a strategy guide,) and so much more. And then Santa brought me a digital camera with a picture printer!
Its all good to get presents, but honestly all I wanted for Christmas was to spending it with Somer and watch her light up and have a good Christmas, and I got exactly what I wanted!
